That must have been messy.
Literally means the words are exactly true. It is not a figure of speech. In this case, he imitated a suicide bomber. It does not mean he was angry.

Oh Kent, to be an absolute stickler for precision in speech, old Rex here should point out that suicide bombers do not explode. The devices they carry explode, taking the bomber with it. If you haven't already, you should read a book called "Eats Shoots and Leaves" cant remember author. You'd love it, full of this sort of stuff. Keep typin' dude!
