Comercials for Hardee's are strange. Their slogan is, "Without us, some guys would starve." I don't understand. They have good biscuits, but they imply that they ar the place to go if you are stupid. I am smarter than those guys, so I should eat elsewhere.
There are many commercials that entertain, but don't mention the product. Others are just annoying. They eventualy get over it. Old Navy has finaly gotten away from campy with has-beens or never-were actors, and they have some almost entertaining ads. Arby's has dumped the overn mitt. Wrigleys gum has started to change its ads after too many years of tired gimmicks like the doublemint twins.
I believe ad agecies are best at selling themselves, hence the title of this entry. After a while the sales number come in, and they have nowhere to hide. The ads must improve.
I wish they would concentrate on the product. Old Navy ads show lots of happy pretty people dancing in their many styles of clothes, and it works. Hardees also has huge burgers, and they show them, and that works, if you want a huge burger. Now Wendy's is showing the oldest oversize burger, their triple. It is about time.
