I love chocolate. I like chocolate so well that I want the intese rich flavor you only find in dark choclate. Hershey's is know for choclate, but their Special Dark Chocolate is not good. It is hard. The best easily available dark choclate is Dove Dark. It can be found in many drug stores.
That is appropriate, because I find it to be a good mild anti-depressant. I have a tendancy to be a bit gloomy and worry about things. A bar of dark chocolate every few days keeps me feeling positive.
Another brand I like is Choco-Love. I get the 65% cocoa kind. More than that, and the bitter flavor starts to be too much for me. It has a description on the wrapper that sounds like a wine bottle, about smooth, cocoa flavor notes, african and carribean blend, and so on. (Flavor notes are the brief flashes of flavor that you taste in a sequence when you eat good food.)
Chcoclate contains antioxidants. It is about half fat and half sugar, yet it keeps a long time without going rancid. That is becasue of the antioxidants. They are good for people too.
M&M just started making DArk Chcolate M&Ms, and they are good. Twix Dark is good. Midnight Milkyway is not. The dark chocolate does not blend with the other flavors as well as the usual milk chocolate.
I was surprised by how little I like Lindt dark chocolate. It has a strange chemical taste. They have some miniature bars that are good, but they don't make that in the bigger bars.
Here in Richmond, we have a store called "For the Love of Chocolate" off Cary Street near the Byrd Theatre. There may be a similar store in your town. Try some sample pieces of various chocolates, and don't feel guilty.
